How I handle a Mora 106 carving / sloyd blade - updated method

This is the popular Mora M-106-1630 Wood Carving 106 Fixed 3.25 Laminated Steel Knife made with Birch Handles in Sweden. This is a very faithful representation of a traditional Scandinavian carving knife, with a medium-length, narrow blade paired with a large handle for maximum grip and control. The blade is laminated carbon steel, with an inner layer hardened to Rockwell 61-62, sandwiched between two layers of lower-carbon steel to add strength.
