This elegant paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1870. The Classic Presse a Relier made of solid iron is almost square in shape with scalloped edges, and features scrolled motifs on the facade, and the top is connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top double-handle. This heavy tool is in excellent working order, and adorns a rich patinated gun barrel painted finish with gilt accents. Decorate a shelf in a study or library with this wonderful accessory! In the old days, this kind of Presses a Papier were used to press the book's sheets together before receiving a bookbinding. Measures: 14.5 W x 13.5 D x 14 H.
