Cannabis trichomes. Light micrograph of glandular trichomes (transparent) on the bract (modified lead) of a female Cannabis sativa plant. Trichomes secrete a resin containing the psychoactive chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). A number of products can be made from the cannabis, or hemp, plant, including hemp fibre, medicinal drugs, marijuana, hashish and oil. It has been used as a recreational drug and medicinal plant for thousands of years. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting and chronic pain.
