Like many artists and crafters, I have more patterned paper than I’ll ever get through in my lifetime. It doesn’t help that I save even the tiniest of scraps … just in case. I was recently sorting through the basket that holds all my papers and noticed how well a few of them went together. They were similar in color and design, and I knew I wanted to pair them together in some way. As I tend to do, I chose to make a few tags and cards to showcase the paper combinations. These were so quick to make, and I loved the results so much I know I’ll come back to this idea again and again. Select patterned papers that are similar in color and pattern. Tear the papers into strips, layer them onto a tag or card, and glue in place. Dip a bottle cap into white acrylic paint, and stamp circles onto the papers. Stamp an image in the white space of the card or tag, and add a word sticker. This technique would also make a great background for an art journal page.
