The stretcher frames are constructed from 1½″ deep heavy duty pine bars, and are reinforced with cross-braces and gussets for optimum stability. The canvas is also double-primed on 7oz / 237gsm medium-texture canvas, and professionally stretched over the frame. This canvas is ready to paint with acrylics. We recommend at least two additional coats of Opus Essential Gesso when painting with oils.
