Wonderfully soft and full of texture. Night skies are an amazing thing. They can possess so many different hues, depending on the weather, location - whether near cities and bright lights or out in the middle of the desert where it's ultra - clear. This color-way contains the shades of night - midnight to royal or navy in the blues, night violets and deep vivid purples. Because of the depth of color in this one, my camera keeps wanting to use flash, which creates too much flashback and tends to wash out the gorgeous differences in shading. Excellent for spinning, weaving, jewelry making, scrap-booking and fantastic mixed media!

First photo is best. Third was in sun and the flashback makes the blues look too light.

Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some of the ribbon is sheer, some with a satiny shine while others are matte. There will be a pattern/variegation of color shading, or a small section containing an unexpected color or shading - due to both the dyeing and the base colors that were over-dyed. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful rich and deep toned color-way. Ribbon width ranges from 1/4 to nearly 1 across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.

Listing is for 5, 10 yards or a full skein. Full skeins vary in yardage from 45 yards to 55 yards, depending on ribbon width. Most ribbons are 3/4 - 1 in width but some may be less or more.
