The Marking Knife is one of those little known tools amongst woodworkers, timber framers and furniture builders. It is used for scoring a line on wood along a square. The single bevel enables the user to put a flat edge up against the square to ensure accuracy. A regular knife is double bevel so that when you set your blade up against your square the cutting edge is set off from the square. This particular marking knife is hand-specific so be sure to select a right-handed knife if you are right-handed or a left-handed knife if you are left-handed. Also note that the sheath is designed to slide onto the blade one way and not the other so do not force the sheath onto the blade. The Most-Accurate Way to Mark Wood for Cutting The tool steel blade of this marking knife is sharpened to a razor edge, which severs wood fibers as the knife is drawn over them. This produces a very accurate line, which aids in making precise cuts with saw or chisel. Blade is double-beveled for right- or left-hand use. Hardwood handle has a comfortable smooth finish; flattened sides prevent roll-away. Works best for cross-grain marking. 7 inches long. Handle style may vary.
