Japanese Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest
This is a Japanese sewing box, also called haribako. Finished with a natural dark brown color, it displays a gorgeous rippled natural wood grain. This tansu chest has five differently-sized drawers with simple metal hardware.
A panel in the lid opens to reveal two compartments, one with a small removable tray. There is also a slot on the side that was initially to house a small straight ruler for measuring. This beautiful piece can not only be used for storing sewing supplies, but jewelry, art supplies, or other trinkets.
Acquired from the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan
