In China, it is used for making exquisite traditional furniture, and until recent times often only available to royalty and aristocracy. It is used in traditional herbal medicine as an antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, anthelmintic, and tonic. Sometimes it’s said to contain aphrodisiac properties.
