Introduction To Lino Cutting Guide

Akua Printing plates are ideal for monotype or drypoint processes. They are made from 100% crystal clear/no tint PETG plastic. PETG is durable but softer than polycarbonate. Perfect for Inversion Printing (printing the plate on top of the paper when going through the press). The soft and malleable surface allows for easily incised lines and a smoother transfer from ink to paper.

Printmaking Tools

Lino cutting is a relief printmaking process. The desired design is cut in reverse into the surface of the block with lino cutting tools. Once this process is complete, ink is applied to the raised that is, uncut areas of the block using a roller/brayer. The design can then be printed in a press or burnished by hand.nnThis Lino Cutting set includes four Flexcut blades of different shapes and an interchangeable handle.
