He is one of our foster babies (not a baby anymore - but I'll always call him that because I bottle fed him). He has feline leukemia. He's a quirky little guy with the deepest purr I have heard to date. When he wants to say hello he'll rear up like a buck and meow. Obsidians absolute favorite thing to do is drink water from the bathtub faucet. Anyone who turns the faucet on for him is his instant bff (best friend forever), but that's not to be mistaken for him wanting to be held and snuggled with. Sir Obsidian desires this only when he asks specifically for it, usually by flopping on the floor in front of us and stretching. Which is where he gets one of his nicknames; stretchy baby. Since I'm talking about one of our foster babies, I'll take the time to mention All Cats Rescue, whom we foster Obsidian through. You can find them on Facebook at Allcatsrescue | Facebook if you'd like to follow along with all of their dedication towards helping our feline friends. I'd also like to talk about feline leukemia. It is not curable. It can be passed from kitty to kitty, but not from kitty to other animals or humans. Some kitties can live a normal long life with feline leukemia, and some kitties live a very shortened life. Your veterinarian can tell you more. We sprinkle 1 probiotic capsule (Proviable-Forte) in some wet food for each kitty every other day to help keep their immunity up (we get this from our veterinarian who recommended it). Feline leukemia is devastating. It has been hard **TRIGGER WARNING-LOSS** to lose 3 of 6 babies already. Two of which grew up and became part of our family, but I am so honored to love them and be loved by them. If you have a kitty with feline leukemia please know that they have so much love to give and they deserve love too. Through the sadness there has been much more happiness, and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I'm in the works of setting up donations to All Cats Rescue with each purchase of this journal. Once I have completed that I will add that info here.
