The small diameter is 1" (25 mm) round tapering to the large diameter end of 2" (50 mm).When used with forming hammers made of nylon, rubber or rawhide and non-ferrous metals such as silver, copper and gold this mandrel will not dent. If used with steel hammers and ferrous metals like steel or simply struck directly with a steel hammer this mandrel can dent.
