Rolling Platform Wood (Poplar) Pencil Box Kit This DIY Wood (Poplar/Maple Combo) Pencil Box Kit is a great project for a beginning woodworker, a hobbyist, or someone looking to give a gift as a kit or as a completed project. The pencil box kit is designed as a real working model for use on a desk or other area of work such as crafts. Other than the nails and glue, the kit is 100% wood (Poplar & Maple except for birch wheels). Except for a hammer, it includes all the necessary materials to complete the project (e.g., premium wood glue, sandpaper, etc.). It (along with our other kits) was specifically designed for three reasons: 1) to offer a young person (with adult guidance) an opportunity to build and learn skills that are not as frequently taught as they once were. 2) to be given as a gift (as a DIY project for someone to build or to be given as a completed gift, and 3) just a fun project with parents, grandparents, mentors, or a homeschool project. The pencil box consists of a platform, sides, ends, sliding panel, axles, and wheels. This is a fun project for a hobbyist or an adult looking for ways to work with their kids more. The pencil box has a large working surface area (approximately 10” x 3 “) and can store several writing instruments. Even though it is designed for use as a working pencil box, it’s unique look also lends itself as a nice shelf addition as well. Although not necessary, with a nice paint job, this pencil box can have a truly attractive look. Because it is designed as a complete DIY project, each kit includes these materials: 1.
