Devin manipulates one continuous strand of aluminum wire into the whimsical form of an octopus that will look delightful as a tabletop piece or perhaps hung on a wall. As you can imagine, no two of these whimsical sculptures will be exactly the same. Details Artist Devin Mack named his business—Drawn Metal Studios—after the process used to create the wire. A chunk of metal is pulled, or drawn, through progressively smaller dies until it becomes thin, malleable wire. Devin works with several kinds of metal wire in various thicknesses to create sculptures covering a wide range of subjects and sizes. From small pieces designed to be worn as jewelry to tabletop pieces like this octopus and all the way up to large outdoor installations like the 10-foot-tall stainless steel and brass honeybee on display in his home-base city of Baltimore. Formed from aluminum wire, this octopus can be safely displayed indoors or out, but please exercise caution when moving it around.
