Olivia Lauren is at a fashion show and she gets to model on the runway. She and her friends have a great idea. They decide to explore the things they are going to wear in A Guide to Things We Wear: Olivia Lauren's Book 5 by Olivia Lauren and Melissa-Sue John. We usually wear clothes for protection, expression, or tradition. Fitted and stretchy clothes are usually worn to do exercise and play sports, and when it is hot, loose and light things like dresses, tank tops, and Capri pants can be worn. Many things are worn for safety, like life jackets when traveling by boat, and goggles in the lab.
It is a fun read that explores the things we wear and the illustrations are a delight. The book is an excellent guide to learn about the different types of attire worn at different times, occasions, and by different cultures. The glossary of terms at the end of the book is helpful when it comes to remembering the names of different types of attire. What would you wear for your wedding? What would your mother wear if you are from Japan? What kind of accessories do you use for fashion? Why do we wear uniforms? The book has all the information and it is a wonderful tool that educators and tutors can use in classrooms to teach students about the things people wear. It is also a good tool to help children learn about different cultures and their traditional attire. The book is well written and will appeal to readers from all age groups.
