These 12 Traditional colors are made specifically for rice papers, offering unique property on all watercolor paper. Perfect for sketching, illustration, Sumi-e, and traditional watercolor painting.

Traditional Gansai watercolors are made with high-grade, finely ground pigments to give a smooth, silky application with each stroke. The unique binder allows color to quickly dissolve in water, and dries to a glossy finish. Excellent lifting qualities on sized papers. These paints can be used with Sumi inks, and any type of watercolor.

This Kuretake-Gansai Tambi Watercolor set is filled with traditional Japanese watercolors for professional artists and crafters alike. These extra large pans (4.5 x 2.5cm) are ideal for sketching, illustration, sumi-e, manga, calligraphy and more. The range includes a good selection of vivid colors with creamy consistencies. All of the colors are extremely lightfast. Apply a wet brush to the pans to activate the colors.

Gansai Tambi paints are high-quality Japanese handmade, solid watercolours that behave in a similar way to gouache. When applied thickly the finish is a gentle sheen rather than the matte usually offered by watercolours. These paints work well with waterbrushes as they can be used to easily wet the paint pans, allowing you to work from them directly. Apply thickly for extremely vibrant colour, even on dark coloured paper and card.
