Making use of a miter saw or planer is often a compromise. For a long time I simply set one or the other on the top of my workbench, setting up makeshift supports when I needed to work with long stock. But the dual tool station shown above allows me to make better use of both tools without tying up my bench. To provide extra support when working with long stock on either the miter saw or planer, thereβs an extension wing and auxiliary fence (for the miter saw) on each side of the station. To save space, the extension wings fold down to the sides and the fences store inside. Besides the fences, thereβs also a shelf for storing the tool youβre not using, as you can see above. The shelf slides out to make it easy to get the tool in and out. Finally, a deep drawer on full-extension slides holds manuals, accessories, and anything else you might need to use with your miter saw or planer.
