A hand-carved wooden book binding press with a planar rectangular base, tall side panels, a top bar held in place with a pair of mortises and small iron nails, and a threaded wooden rod which presses on a beveled wooden plank beneath. Included with the binding press is a copy of Henry J. Raymond's 1865 book entitled, "The Life and Public Service of Abraham Lincoln, Sixteenth President of the United States; Together with His State Papers, Including His Speeches, Addresses, Messages, Letters, and Proclamations, and The Closing Scenes Connected with His Life and Death."
