The first scissors ever produced date as far back as 2000 BC. In the 17th century, they were used for cutting cloth for garments, and for aiding in the creation of the delicate cutwork and embroidery that was so popular at the time. Most 17th-century scissors were made of iron and would have been completely hand forged
